Ballston committee weighs TerraCycle drop-point idea after mixed vendor responses

The Ballston Green Community Committee said on Jan. 6 that outreach to local recycling vendors has produced mixed results, and members are exploring whether the town could host a TerraCycle drop point.
Kelly Jasinski reported that she contacted Twin Bridges, County Waste and Advantage; one vendor acknowledged receipt and said it would consider participating, but subsequent attempts produced long waits and few definitive responses. "After a few more attempts, and waiting long waits to get a body, and then not getting a definitive response, or any response, I am starting to think this is not an option," Jasinski said. The committee asked Silver Gudbrandsen to send a follow-up email to Twin Bridges.
Committee members also discussed TerraCycle requirements. Jessie said anyone can register as a public drop point but that registration is brand-specific and requires sorting donated materials by brand; she agreed to pull together a list of popular brand options for the committee to consider. The group discussed whether town hall could serve as a collection point if logistical hurdles can be resolved.
The committee did not make a final decision and directed members to continue outreach; the item will be revisited in February.
