On April 21 the Wareham Select Board recommended favorable action to Town Meeting on Article S3, the spring 2026 capital budget, which Town Administrator Derek Sullivan summarized with line items including police body cameras and vehicle funding, IT and network refresh, municipal-maintenance needs and school projects.
Sullivan described figures shown in the capital summary: roughly $250,000 for police body cameras, $175,000 for police vehicles, about $395,000 for the virtual and network server refresh and related IT upgrades, and funding lines totaling a grand total Sullivan stated as $2,845,000. He said using available free cash would leave just over $2,000,000 in uncommitted free cash.
Sarah Corbett moved to recommend favorable action on Article S3 and Joseph Still seconded. The board approved the recommendation by roll-call vote, allowing the capital package to proceed to Town Meeting for final action.
Sullivan and board members stressed that free cash is a one-time funding source and described the town’s multi-year approach to capital planning; the board did not authorize borrowing beyond the warrant recommendations and recommended the article to Town Meeting for final approval.
