Supervisors approve shelter for Peggy Whitson Rock; resolution RC26-92 passes unanimously

The Ringgold County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on May 26 to approve a protective shelter for the Peggy Whitson Rock on the courthouse lawn.
Ken Robertson presented a proposal for a four-post shelter estimated to cost about $8,500 plus labor; Robertson said the structure would be paid for by ROA and private donations. Robertson provided a generated image of the proposed shelter and said the department planned installation around July 10. He also told the board that artist Ray "Bubba" Sorenson would repaint the rock in mid-July to repair hail and weather damage.
Supervisor Steve Knapp made the motion to approve the addition of the shelter and Supervisor Randy Taytor seconded. The board adopted Resolution RC26-92; the vote was recorded as unanimous.
Korbie Rinehart, deputy auditor, attested to the passage and the resolution was recorded as passed and approved on May 26, 2026.
