The Wakefield working group opened its meeting by approving the April 16 working group minutes by voice vote. The group then received a construction update from Jerry, the project presenter.
Jerry said exterior masonry work is "basically winding down," with granite being installed at the main entrance and follow‑on trades completing window trim and exterior caps. Site crews have excavated foundations for shade structures and are setting anchor bolts; granite mock‑ups for terrazzo are scheduled, with Roman Mosaic expected to begin terrazzo at the upper cafe on June 1 pending mock‑up approval. Inside, Century is progressing in the auditorium with drywall hung and stadium seating framing underway, and painters and millwork installers are following behind the tapers.
Participants questioned how manufacturer startups and system commissioning are being observed. Jerry said manufacturer start‑ups are in progress and that Jay (manufacturer representative) typically attends weekly and issues written deficiency lists that are entered into Procore; the MEP manager and project team review open items in weekly MEP meetings. The group agreed to provide Procore access and to circulate startup/MEP reports so members can track outstanding RFIs and corrective actions.
The meeting closed with a range of follow-ups including sharing the salvage drawings, distributing a parent‑drop‑off flyer for the phase‑2 circulation plan and reviewing selected PCOs at the next PBC meeting.
