Bardstown Mayor J. Richard Heaton and the City Council convened a special public hearing Sept. 9 to consider a proposal to retain the city's property tax rate at 16.10 cents per $100 of assessed real and personal property for fiscal year 2025-26.
City Administrator Aaron Boles told the council that Ordinance B2025-12 proposes the same rate as the prior year and that individual taxpayers would see higher bills only if their property assessments increased; he added the city will realize higher revenue because overall assessed values across the city rose.
Mayor Heaton opened the meeting for public comment but the minutes record that no members of the public asked questions or made statements during the hearing. With no public input, Councilman David Dones moved to adjourn the special session at 5:54 p.m.; Councilman Roland E. Williams seconded and the motion carried by a vote of 6-0.
The hearing record notes the proposed rate and the absence of public comment. The minutes do not record any final adoption vote on Ordinance B2025-12 during this session.
