Sandy Oaks leaders plan 10th-anniversary celebration and discuss using community center as county warming/cooling site

The mayor also said Bexar County Emergency Management officials have expressed interest in designating the community center as a warming and cooling site for residents during extreme weather or power outages. He said county officials discussed retrofitting the facility to support a trailer that could be powered by a generator during outages; city staff will continue talks with the county and report back.
Council members said they welcomed the potential partnership and asked staff to return with details on any needed modifications, operations and staffing for the center to serve as an emergency site.
