Eastchester board approves appointments, summer events and $94,125 golf-course contract addendum

The Eastchester Town Board on June 3 unanimously approved a package of routine appointments, contracts and event authorizations, including a probationary appointment to a full‑time laborer position, the reappointment of the town tax assessor and an addendum to a golf-course maintenance contract totaling $94,125.
Supervisor Kiva presented a memorandum from the controller recommending the probationary appointment of Nahul Rodriguez to a full‑time laborer (Group FST step one) at an annual salary of $55,147, effective July 7, 2025; the appointment is contingent on a background check, pre‑employment testing and a probationary period of not less than 12 weeks nor more than 52 weeks. The board moved, seconded and approved the appointment by roll call.
The board also reappointed Michelle Liso of Eastchester as town tax assessor for the term Oct. 1, 2025 through Sept. 30, 2031 at the budgeted salary. Supervisor Kiva described the assessor role as “particularly difficult” and noted Liso’s multi‑year service in the office before the board approved the appointment by roll call.
On event and community items, the board authorized an agreement with Celebration Fireworks Inc. for a fireworks display on Friday, June 20, 2025 (gates open at 8 p.m.; fireworks at 9:30 p.m.) and accepted a $4,000 grant for the police department’s National Night Out event scheduled for Aug. 5. The law department and the police chief recommended the actions, and the board approved both measures.
The town approved a settlement of $2,144.73 to resolve a claim by Donna Karen for vehicle damage on June 11, 2025. The board also approved seasonal hires for Lake Gile, a four‑month unpaid leave for employee No. 4159 in the highway department beginning June 17, 2025, and various budget transfers presented by the controller.
The Lake Ale manager described an addendum to the town’s contract with Bright View Golf Course Maintenance covering tree management, turf work and resurfacing of cart paths on multiple holes; capital funding of $94,125 had been approved as part of the 2025 capital budget and the board approved the addendum by roll call.

The board set a revised meeting schedule for July (July 8 at 7:30 p.m.) and August (Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m.) and received routine department reports, including the police monthly report and highway updates on street resurfacing and curb work. The town clerk reported mailing approximately 1,300 seasonal permits that take effect July 1.
Supervisor Kiva said the Traffic and Parking Advisory Committee (TAC) and relevant town staff would vet requests that require enforcement or engineering changes. The meeting adjourned following a motion and unanimous voice vote.
