At its May 26 meeting the Village of Mariemont council approved several spending and legislative items in addition to the dog ordinance. Council accepted a building department spending request for a full tear‑off and replacement of the fire bay flat roof with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $40,000, to be paid from permanent improvement funds. Rod Holloway reported the roof is about 25 years old and that emergency repairs were only a temporary fix.
Council also approved a recurring software renewal for fire‑department scheduling and training; the discussion referenced a 60‑month (five‑year) term and figures discussed in the meeting suggested an approximate five‑year total of roughly $2,700 (annualized amounts of about $2,000 were also mentioned), though the precise contract language and cost schedule will be confirmed when staff finalizes vendor paperwork.
On the legislative calendar, council conducted readings and adopted on emergency the ordinance supplement to the annual appropriation ordinance (Ordinance 0126). Council also completed third readings and passed the amendment to the outstanding citizen award (Resolution R1282) and an amendment to ordinance 01818 regarding mayoral spending authority; roll calls for those votes recorded affirmative votes from the assembled council members. The council authorized payment of presented bills and accepted the Economic Development, Planning and Zoning committee recommendation to prioritize Green Umbrella fellowship projects including hillside stabilization, waste diversion and education/engagement work.
