Show Low High robotics team reviews award-winning season, highlights scholarships and community outreach

Students from the Show Low High School robotics team gave a season recap to the Show Low Unified School District board, describing tournaments, awards, fundraising and community outreach.
"Today, we've come to talk to you guys about our year in summary and what we have achieved," student Nathan McDow said, describing three tournaments the team attended and their leadership development at SkillsUSA. Jesse Keer said the team won the Think Award in Flagstaff for an engineering notebook, the Sustain Award in Tucson and the Connect Award in Phoenix for community engagement.
Engineering-notebook lead Summer Huggin described the team’s fundraising approach and thanked local sponsors: "We normally go out to our local businesses, explain who we are, what we do, and how they can help support us," she said, and gave a shout-out to Standard Electric, AC/DC, Hamilton Design, The House and the school.
Student speakers highlighted hands-on learning: coder Bill Gibbons described CAD work and machining parts; senior Ariana Bennett said the program built her communication and leadership skills; and several students reported college visits and scholarship outcomes — "four members on our team won full ride scholarships," a student said during the presentation.
Sponsor Cory Gillespie and co-sponsor William Newberry introduced the team and thanked the board for hosting the informational presentation. Board members applauded the students, requested a group photo and offered personal thanks: "Mr. Gillespie, thank you so much for all you do," a board member said after the presentation.
The board received the robotics report as an information item; there was no formal vote. The presentation emphasized student workforce skills, community partnerships and local business support as key factors in the program’s success.
