The GFW Public Schools board on July 15 approved routine business items for the coming school year, including the 2024–25 academic calendar, the district—s long list of approved fundraisers, the employee handbook and a resolution related to write-in vote counting.
The board accepted a list of planned fundraisers for FY25 intended to avoid overlapping solicitations. It also approved the 2024–25 employee handbook with a small language update clarifying that staff requests for additional time off after exhausting paid leave must be preapproved. Board members said such changes will be covered in back-to-school staff trainings and principal briefings.
The board adopted a resolution acknowledging a legislative change that simplifies county counting of write-in votes; board members noted the county still receives and reports write-in information though counting responsibilities changed. The board approved a resolution accepting donations; the meeting recorded a $1,000 donation from Sarah Burr to the middle/high school robotics program.
All motions on these routine items passed by voice vote.
