Converse explained that Celebrate Silver is intended as a family-friendly summer event that both educates and celebrates, so that attendees can learn how to spot and report elder abuse and can connect directly with organizations that offer services. "We put our celebration June 13th from 11 until 3 in Central Park in Aitkin," Converse said, noting organizers scheduled the event on a weekend close to the official World Elder Abuse Awareness date of June 15 to increase attendance.
Entertainment will include performer Tina Hayes Kerr, and Rosalini's will provide pizza and other food options. Converse said organizers are seeking nonprofits to participate at no charge and crafters to rent booths for $25; "All nonprofits are free," she said, and described proceeds from booths as earmarked for a participating nonprofit.
