Parks & Recreation Commission approves minutes, elects new chair and forms ad hoc subcommittee

The Menlo Park Parks and Recreation Commission completed routine business on May 27, approving previous meeting minutes, electing leadership for the coming year and forming a small subcommittee to prepare a work‑plan update for City Council.
A motion to approve the April 22, 2026 meeting minutes passed unanimously on a roll call vote.
Staff explained the city’s rotating procedure for selecting chair and vice chair and commissioners discussed nominations. A motion to recommend Vice Chair Joseph Grass for Chair and Commissioner Dustin Van Buren for Vice Chair passed by voice/roll call vote.
The commission also voted to form an ad hoc subcommittee, composed of two volunteer commissioners with the option to add another member later, to draft a report on the 2025–26 PRC work plan progress. Staff said the subcommittee will keep the scope under the rules limiting ad hoc groups to fewer than a quorum and noted a tentative date for a report presentation in August with the option to present in July.
Chair Waman Lee adjourned the meeting at 8:55 p.m.
