Georgetown Police to host free active‑shooter training June 6–7

Jesse, speaking for the Georgetown Police Department, announced that the department will host a two‑day active‑shooter training on June 6–7 open to law‑enforcement agencies across the county. "This training will prepare officers — God forbid — for any active‑type shooter incidents such as engaging a threat and the mental mindset in dealing with these situations," Jesse said.
The session will be free to participating agencies, Jesse said, and will be held at facilities provided by Mr. Winrod of the Georgetown Exempted Schools. Jesse said the program was developed in coordination with Texas State University and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and that the cost is covered through a "props Grant," so participation will "not cost taxpayers a dime." He invited other departments throughout the county to attend.
The announcement was made during the council's general business portion of the meeting and was followed by applause. No formal council action on the training was recorded at the meeting; Jesse presented the program as an informational item and invitation.
