Cemetery committee approves Chase lot transfer, accepts resale and corrects prior sale record

The Town of Concord Cemetery Committee voted May 6, 2026, to approve several property transactions affecting Sleepy Hollow and Dogwood Path lots.
Richard Corson petitioned the committee to transfer ownership of lot 25, Star Circle, which Elton Chase purchased in 1973 to provide interment space for Helen and Robert Corson. Staff confirmed that the family meets current residency-based eligibility rules and the committee approved the lot transfer by roll-call vote. Corson explained his family connection to Concord and said he hopes to be interred there in the future.
The committee also accepted a request from Cynthia and Brian Derer to return three lots (109, 110 and 111 on Dogwood Path) to the town for the original combined purchase price of $7,200. Committee members moved and approved the resale.
Separately, staff identified a database error relating to a prior authorization for Norma and Benson Shapiro: lot 44 (Acacia Path) was incorrectly listed as belonging to that trust. Committee members moved to amend last month’s authorization to remove lot 44 from the transfer and approved the amendment by roll-call vote.
All transactions were taken as formal motions and recorded by roll call. Staff indicated town staff will follow up with paperwork to complete each transfer and the amendment to the prior authorization.
