Linn County hears service reports, OKs district court equipment formality and gets public works update

County staff used the June 1 meeting to report operational activity and seek a brief administrative formality.
Chris Martin, the county IT director, said the district court was awarded grant money to buy additional courtroom microphones and asked whether the county could sign a quote between the court and the county so the court could accept the grant. Martin described the purchase as hardware-only and said installation is typically handled by the county’s in-house team; commissioners raised no objection to signing the quote.
Emergency Management Director Linda Clemens reported on a "stay safe in your own home" presentation at the Pleasanton Senior Center and said regional coordinators will visit to review disaster paperwork and responsibilities. The AMR report earlier in the meeting showed 199 calls last week with 59 transports and an average response time of 13 minutes, 43 seconds. The sheriff's report recorded a jail population of 53 prisoners and the usual weekly caseloads.
Public Works introduced new assistant director Zachary Reagan. Public Works also reported an engineer estimate of about $1.8 million for a military-bridge project while the grant award for the project is $2 million; staff said they will meet with KDOT and the engineers to refine scheduling and costs. Permits to install culverts on County Road 1095 were received from the state, and the county took delivery of new landfill trucks that will be prepared for service.
The board did not take any immediate policy action on the operational items beyond delegating follow-up to staff.
