Westville police commission elects chair and vice chair, agrees to replace signs and install solar crosswalk lights

During new business at the Town of Westville Board of Police Commissioners meeting, members nominated and confirmed leadership and discussed signage and pedestrian-safety improvements.

A member nominated Sarah as chair; she accepted the nomination and the board approved the appointment by voice vote. For vice chair, members nominated Helen and Mitchell and then nominated Mr. McGregor; Mr. McGregor accepted and was confirmed as vice chair.

Members also raised public requests regarding wayfinding signage for the police department. Board members discussed replacing or adding signs to better indicate the police entrance and agreed to coordinate sign replacement. The discussion then moved to pedestrian-safety crosswalk lights: a member reported that "Chris has ordered them," and the board discussed installing solar-powered crosswalk lights with battery backup to avoid trenching sidewalks for AC power. Members indicated the lights would be placed at busy crosswalks, including the post office area and near nearby businesses.
