Westville police report: 126 calls in December, two impaired-driving incidents and multiple checkpoints

Chief Hobc reported one instance recorded as “uttering threats” and several traffic-related investigations, including 12 speeding incidents (nine cleared) and other moving and non-moving traffic violations. "Westville Police Service responded to 126 calls for service," Chief Hobc said during the meeting.

He also told the board that "at least four checkpoints" were conducted in December and that one of the operations involved co-operation with neighbouring agencies in a Pictou County operation in New Glasgow with RCMP and other departments.
The chief provided additional counts for provincial-statute responses: one cannabis file still open, one child-and-family-services call cleared, five family-law calls cleared, six mental-health act responses cleared, and multiple municipal bylaw and property-check calls. The department also recorded three sudden-death calls, six well-being checks and 15 index checks for the month.
The board moved to accept Chief Hobc's report as presented; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
