General Manager Ron told the board the district expects to participate in a regional solid-waste base-year rate review alongside nine other agencies that contract with Waste Connections. He said Waste Connections submitted its base-year application last week and consultant R3 will manage the base-year review; district staff will synthesize the application into a recommended starting point for rates effective in 2025.
“...we are going to have a regional approach... we did receive our base-year application from Waste Connections last week and that is... all the applications are going to go to R3 our consultant that's handling the base year review,” Ron said.
Board members clarified that the review covers only the Waste Connections service area and not the entire county. Ron also reminded residents and potential candidates that the filing period for the November election begins July 15 and can extend to Aug. 9 depending on filings; Districts 3 and 5 are the seats up for election.
The board did not take any formal action on the rate-setting item during the meeting; staff will continue coordination with the consultant and partner agencies.
