Los Osos board adopts FY 2024–25 assessments and special tax rolls

The Los Osos Community Services District board voted to adopt resolutions directing staff to submit the district’s fiscal-year 2024–25 assessments and special tax rolls to San Luis Obispo County for collection.
Staff told the board the package includes Bay Ridge Estates and Vista de Oro annual service charges, the drainage special tax, fire protection and prevention services special tax (which incorporates a board-approved CPI increase), District No. 1 wastewater assessments (calculated by NBS), and delinquent water account charges. “This is what we do every July meeting,” the staff member said while outlining the assessments and how they are calculated.
Board members asked clarifying questions about which taxes carry automatic CPI adjustments; staff confirmed the fire protection special tax includes a CPI increase approved at a prior meeting, while the drainage special tax does not. Staff also said the district’s annual notification process typically reduces the list of delinquent water accounts, and this year only one delinquent account remained.
During public comment, resident Richard Margetson noted the fire tax had risen to $2,118 and said the current levy remains lower than a previously proposed amount. After public comment, a board member moved to adopt resolutions 2024-13 through 2024-18 to levy the listed charges, special taxes and assessments and to direct staff to submit the adopted resolutions and tax rolls to the county for collection; the motion was seconded and approved on a roll-call vote (Director CNA: yes; Director Gatel: yes; Vice President WAC: yes; President Oeli: yes).
Mr. Green reported out of the board’s closed session earlier in the meeting, saying staff had been directed to send a notice denying a public employment claim and that no other reportable action occurred.
Staff will submit the adopted resolutions and tax rolls to San Luis Obispo County for collection as directed by the board.
