The Board of Civil Service Trustees approved the minutes of its May 13, 2026 meeting and took a series of personnel actions at its May 27, 2026 session in Las Vegas.
The board, chaired by Chair Brown, confirmed it had a quorum with Vice Chair Ponachello, Member Hesh and Member Stamper present; Member Jimenez was excused. The meeting opened with instructions for accessing backup materials from Land Holmes, city clerk, and on the city's website.
Member Ponichello moved to approve the final minutes of the May 13 meeting by reference; the motion carried after the board recorded four affirmative responses. Member Hesh then moved to certify eligible lists for the following recruitments: corrections officer (open), deputy city marshal (open), fire administrative battalion chief (promotional), fire battalion chief 56-hour (promotional), fire captain (promotional), HVAC technician (open), land survey technician (open), painter (open), and senior economic development specialist (open). The board approved the certification by recorded affirmative votes.
Member Stamper moved to certify classification specifications for Recreation Field Supervisor and Senior Signing and Marking Technician; the board approved the classifications. Later, the board voted to abolish eligible lists established Dec. 10, 2025 for Corrections Officer and Deputy City Marshall and to abolish the Locksmith 1 eligible list after Vice Chair Ponichello moved the item and the board recorded its approval.
Chair Brown opened scheduled public-comment periods and reminded attendees that comments must be limited to matters on the agenda and require speakers to state their name for the record. No members of the public spoke during either comment period. The meeting was then adjourned.
The board did not take public testimony or hear contested debate on the items listed. Several routine personnel and classification actions were approved; no votes were recorded as opposed or abstaining and Member Jimenez was noted as excused.
