At the May 27 meeting of the Apex Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, a staff member told board members a fee study now underway may lead to higher program prices and will be presented to the board at its June meeting.
The staff member—who led the executive report—said the team reviewing fee formulas "found that some of the prices were really going to skyrocket" as they applied market-based adjustments, and that managers and Jamila worked to temper changes. "It won't be like drastic changes," the staff member said, "you'll see just minor changes, but it affects pricing in a significant way." The board was given advance notice and told to expect the study at the June meeting.
The staff member also announced upcoming community events tied to programming and volunteer recognition, including a coach appreciation event on June 5 at Pleasant Park Field One and Fieldhouse and an "Afternoon in the Garden" volunteer session June 27 at Apex Nature Park Pollinator Garden.
Board members did not take formal action on the fee study at the May meeting; the staff presentation was informational and the study will return to the board for review and potential action in June.
