Loves Park City Council approves permits, purchases and three ordinances

The Loves Park City Council approved several routine permits and purchases, voted to adopt three ordinances and scheduled a public hearing on amendments to the McFarland Road business district during its March 17, 2025 meeting.
Alderman Dan Jacobson moved to appoint Alderman Puit as temporary chairman in the mayor's absence; the council approved the appointment by roll-call vote. The council then approved the minutes from its previous meeting and authorized payment of city bills dated March 17, 2025, in the amount of $874,573.20 and water department bills dated March 17, 2025, in the amount of $9,761.56, both on roll-call votes.
The council approved a special-event permit for Wind Window World to hold an open house at 6010 Forest Hills Road on June 21, and approved a permit for the group listed as 'Loves Park Ski Bronx' to hold a Polar Plunge fundraiser at Sherwood Park on April 12; staff reported no objections from fire and police for the Wind Window World request and reminded organizers of the city's 60-day submission guideline for events.
On resolutions, the council approved authorization to purchase a replacement vehicle for the Community Development Department and a mayoral resolution to buy one heating and air-conditioning unit for City Hall from Helm Services; both items were noted as signed by committee members and carried on roll call. The council also approved a mayoral appointment of Carana to the commission recorded in the minutes and authorized the mayor to execute an agreement involving entities recorded as 'Park Illinois' and 'AG incorporate.'
Three ordinances (ORD 16, 17 and 18) were presented together and passed after roll-call votes. Council leadership and clerks recorded each motion and vote as approved.
Alderman Dan Jacobson, who presented multiple committee-backed items, said the finance committee will meet Monday at 4:50 p.m. to continue discussion of the McFarland Road business-district amendment and related ordinances. The council also announced a special meeting and public hearing on that amendment at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, to consider expanding the district's boundaries, amending its plan and imposing new occupational taxes for retailers, service providers and hotel operators within the expanded area.
The meeting concluded with a roll-call confirmation that no executive session was needed and an adjournment motion carried by the council.
