Lincoln Public Schools opens public solicitation for 28-acre Loyal site, sets bidding dates for three surplus properties

The Lincoln Board of Education voted May 26 to seek public proposals for a 28-acre parcel known in board materials as the Loyal site and to solicit bids on three other surplus properties, a district official said.
Dr. Standish told the board the Loyal site—undeveloped land on 84th Street just north of Van Dorn—has been in the district’s inventory and that the district will accept proposal packets at the purchasing department beginning Monday, June 1. Public notices announcing the opportunity will run May 31 and June 7 in the Sunday paper, and proposals for the Loyal site are due June 25, Standish said.
In addition to the Loyal parcel, staff said the district will accept bids by June 18 for two properties near Northwest High School—a large red barn identified for surplus and a nearby house—and a residential house at Lake View Elementary that has not been used in recent years. Staff said anyone interested must pick up procurement paperwork from the purchasing office and that the prospective buyer would be responsible for moving any building off district land.
Standish stressed that any property transaction resulting from the solicitation would return to the board for formal public action after the district gathers proposals and completes vetting.
The motion to waive a second reading and approve the solicitation process was moved and seconded; board members recorded affirmative roll-call votes and the motion passed.
