The Bangor School Board voted to increase pay for both certified and hourly staff for the 2026–27 school year.
Administrators proposed moving teachers forward one step for experience and raising every cell on the certified salary schedule by $550, which sets the new base step at $43,850. The board moved and seconded the motion and approved the change by voice vote.
For hourly employees, the administration recommended a uniform increase of $0.75 per hour across all cells of the hourly pay scale—an approach administrators said follows the same 2.63% indexing used elsewhere. Board members asked clarifying questions about the calculation and about continuing parity across staff categories; the motion to adopt the hourly increases was approved unanimously.
Administrators said supporting the salary adjustments reflects both cost-of-living indexing and an effort to maintain competitive pay and staffing stability. The board recorded the motions and carried them by voice vote during the meeting.
What’s next: The administration will update payroll schedules and post the revised salary schedules for staff ahead of the 2026–27 contracts.
