Separately, Director Jane Cox briefed the board on a proposed Ed Flex waiver tied to Title IV federal funds. The waiver would allow Radford City Schools to continue spending Title IV dollars in a single category (well-rounded education) even if allocations exceed $30,000 — avoiding statutory percentage distribution requirements. The waiver application deadline is June 10; the district opened a public comment period through June 5 (information posted on the RCPS website and paper copies in the lobby).
Other administrative items: the board approved the sale of surplus equipment (operations and technology), reviewed school capital and facilities expenditures through April and received an update on an accessibility audit and a proposed bleacher/ADA seating remediation at the high school gymnasium.
