The Suamico Village Board voted unanimously Monday to accept $32,000 in grant funding from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Office of Emergency Management to purchase radios and cover related communications equipment costs for the Suamico Fire Department.
"We received this award last year which will purchase radios and reimburse the equipment placement reserve," Chief Bartler told trustees as he asked the board to approve Resolution 260006. He thanked grant writer Ben Rogers and said the department will resubmit a missing programming template entry (VTAC37 DG) identified in the review and will conduct the training in‑house.
The resolution formally authorizes acceptance of the grant and the purchase of radios and associated equipment. The board approved the motion by roll call; all seven trustees voted in favor.
Chief Bartler said the training and programming work would proceed as if the department had purchased the equipment without the grant, and that final documentation will be submitted to the grantor as required. The next steps are purchasing the radios, completing the programming template resubmission, and filing the required reimbursement paperwork with the state office.
