After a public hearing and corrected legal description, the Visalia Unified Board adopted an amended resolution on April 14 approving the purchase of the Lowry Ranch property for a new elementary school in northwest Visalia.
Chief Business Officer Nathan Hernandez told trustees the district had obtained clearance from the Department of Toxic Substances Control and the California Department of Education and that the item returned for approval only to correct a legal land description submitted in February. The board closed the public hearing and approved the site suitability and purchase on recorded motions.
Trustees voted to adopt amended resolution 25-26-19; the student board member voted yes and the roll call reflected seven yes votes where recorded. Board members indicated the site purchase is a step toward addressing enrollment growth and facilities planning in the district’s northwest area. No funding details were discussed in the public presentation beyond standard purchase and sale procedures.
