Bradford County fair board votes to keep executive board while bylaws and charter are revised

At its June meeting, the Bradford County Fair Association board discussed officer nominations and the process for changing an appointed president, and then voted to keep the existing executive board in place while bylaws and charter revisions proceed.

Why it matters: The association’s president is an appointed position the board cannot unilaterally remove; the board discussed what procedural steps would be needed if it wanted to request a change and agreed to seek clarification from county staff and the county commissioners before taking any request forward.

Board members noted Paul currently occupies an appointed presidency and that the board would need to consult the county commissioners to request any change in that appointment. The group considered amendments to its internal bylaws and charter and agreed to form or reconvene a bylaws and charter committee to produce revised language for the board’s consideration.

A motion was made and seconded to keep the executive board in place until the bylaws and charter work is complete.
