Buxton selectmen approved several routine and financial items at their March 25 meeting, opened sealed bids for winter sand and set the schedule for upcoming budget meetings.
The board voted to approve the minutes from the March 18 meeting, with four in favor and one abstention. The board then approved Executive Order 25260327, granting a legally blind tax exemption for Map 10 Lot 40A, and Executive Order 25260328, granting a veteran’s tax exemption for Map 9 Lot 2-9-1; both orders passed on voice votes with all five members recorded as in favor.
The board approved Executive Order 25260325, accepting payroll warrant 80 in the amount the chair read to the board: $106,983.58. The board later approved Executive Order 25260326, accepting accounts payable warrant 81 after an on-floor clarification of the amount; the transcript records a final figure of $876,273 and the warrant was approved unanimously.
The board opened two sealed 3-year bids for winter sand: Gorham Sand and Gravel (year 1 $23.10, year 2 $25.50, year 3 $28.00 per unit) and LP Murray (year 1 $18, year 2 $19, year 3 $20). The chair said Public Works Director Kevin Kimball will review bid documents for compliance and report back at the next meeting, when the board expects to make an award.
Selectmen also reviewed administrative matters, including accounts-payable procedure changes intended to speed invoice processing, and public-calendar items. The next selectmen meeting is scheduled for April 1 at 7:00 p.m., and the budget committee will meet March 31 at 6:00 p.m., with the selectmen in attendance to finalize budget articles.
The meeting adjourned at about 7:20 p.m.
