The commission was told that Officer Alan Tibo has already started patrol duty and that Officer Andrew Gant is working through a certification transfer from Arizona; while Gant is on ride-alongs and learning department systems, he remains uncertified pending the transfer process through Illinois training and standards. The report said the transfer process is underway but did not provide a completion date.
Commission staff said the newly funded full-time position is intended to provide extra manpower and relief during peak demand times rather than to focus on traffic enforcement. The department said it will analyze call-volume data to determine which dates and times to target and will align the new officer's days off with the department's existing scheduling practices.
Department staff also announced two community engagement events: "Coffee with the Prospect Heights Police Department" on May 19 at the Rob Roy Clubhouse, and a "Cop on a Rooftop" fundraiser on May 15 at the Dunkin' Donuts on South Milwaukee Avenue to benefit Illinois Special Olympics athletes.
The commission set its next regular meeting for May 27, 2026; the meeting adjourned at about 4:38 p.m.
