Neighbors ask Lower Township to delay auction of Lot 12, citing mapping and parking concerns

Several residents asked Lower Township to delay a scheduled public auction for Block 816, Lot 12, saying aerial maps and posted auction materials appear to include portions of privately owned lots and that cars are currently parked on the parcel.
Sharon Snider said she pays taxes on Lots 13 and 14 but that auction materials indicate Lot 12 in a way that could mislead a buyer. "They're selling Lot 12 but they have my parking lot next to my house which I've been paying taxes on," she said.
Council and staff said the township owns Lot 12 as the result of a foreclosure recorded years earlier but that they would re-check county deed records, tax-assessor information and the legal description in the deed. The clerk and township solicitor were asked to review the materials, and the council said the township engineer would evaluate any surveys residents provide.
Another resident, Raymond B, said the lot floods twice daily and questioned whether it is buildable. The township replied that it makes no representations about buildability at auction and that a buyer would be expected to perform due diligence during the purchase process.
Council said it will revisit the sale after staff completes additional due diligence and will inform residents whether the auction will proceed as scheduled.
