Brown County Commission approves courthouse flooring, grants, fireworks permit and routine business

Building superintendent Judy Dash presented quotes for new courtroom flooring and stair treads; the commission voted to approve the Montgomery quote for second-floor courtroom flooring (motion by Dinger; second by Whis). Highway Superintendent Dirk Rogers presented Northwestern Energy right-of-way maps to place overhead infrastructure underground near the Central school area; the commission approved both right-of-way requests.
The commission authorized the chairman to sign a contractual weed-and-pest grant (motion by Weed, second by Dennard) and approved a fireworks permit for the Richmond Lake Association to hold a display near the Oasis on July 3 (motion by Weed, second by Gage). Officials said the display location moved this year because of a closure at the Edwards Preserve and that the highway department had approved the site.
Other routine business carried unanimously or by recorded votes: approval of the May 5 meeting minutes, HR report acceptance, land billing for April, and a travel request. The commission also voted to enter an executive session to discuss contracts and later returned to open session with no action announced.
