HR update: 38 certified staff resigned, creating 38 vacancies

Miss Hamilton, delivering the human-resources update, told the board that contract-return deadlines produced a sharp staffing figure: "We have 38 certified staff members who resigned in lieu of signing their contracts. Of that 38 . . . 28 of those 38 are new vacancies and 10 are existing vacancies," she said.
Hamilton said letters of agreement for working retirees and teachers in alternative pathways are due May 15, and that classified work agreements were distributed with a May 22 due date; she reported 55% return on classified agreements to date. The HR office expects to provide updated vacancy numbers to board members next week after final contract returns.
Hamilton also noted plans for a new-employee orientation at district offices (July 21–24) in response to prior feedback that the high-school site caused confusion for recent hires. She said HR will include directors to smooth onboarding and will circulate retiree lists for an upcoming banquet.
Board members asked for follow-up on the list of retirees and requested that HR provide updated vacancy counts in the board brief.
