McGregor council approves purchase of Tyler Technologies’ MyCivic citizen-engagement app

Robin Reeves, Tyler’s senior account representative, told the council the platform is intended to “strengthen the connection between the city and the community you serve,” noting features such as branded content, calendars, event promotion, 311-style reporting with geolocation and photos, and integration with utility billing. “The most valuable piece of real estate in the city of McGregor is in the palm of your citizens’ hands,” Reeves said during the presentation.
Dennis Mailman, a solutions consultant with Tyler, demonstrated the app’s citizen-facing reporting options and the administrative portal that city staff would use to manage reports and assign work. Council members asked who on staff would track the incoming reports; one member asked, “What human being is going to be tracking this?” Staff indicated their team would build the initial prototype and train city staff on operation and administration.
Council discussed budget implications and whether the city would roll features out gradually. One councilor asked about next year’s budget allocation; staff said cost allocation would be discussed in the budget process. The council moved and approved the purchase by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will finalize the contract and proceed with implementation and training as outlined by the vendor.
