Minooka CCSD 201 board approves revised 2026–27 calendar and several facility projects

The Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 Board of Education approved a revised 2026–27 academic calendar and a set of facility projects at its March meeting.

Dr. Massie presented the calendar revision, which moves winter break to match a neighboring district’s full week off to reduce childcare impacts for families who rely on older students. The revision also maintains Wednesday five‑hour early‑release professional development days. Board members asked staff to clearly highlight the changes when the district publishes the updated calendar to families. The board approved the revised calendar by roll call.

Technology Director Mr. Souza described a recommended replacement of Jones Elementary’s aging gym and cafeteria audio system, citing frequent signal loss, hissing and intermittent announcements that create safety and operational concerns. He estimated the project at just under $35,000 and said it had been planned in last year’s budget; the board approved the project.

At the same meeting the board approved a consent agenda that included upgrades to digital security and backup systems (noted as partially reimbursed through a federal grant) and a junior‑high chiller placement project funded through life‑safety dollars. A board member characterized these approvals as evidence the district’s project review process is identifying needed follow‑on work.

The actions were approved through standard motions and roll calls during the meeting. The board adjourned at the close of business.
