James Cox sworn in to Sedro-Woolley council after appointment to Ward 2

After interviewing three applicants for the Ward 2 vacancy, the Sedro-Woolley City Council nominated and appointed James Cox to fill the seat vacated earlier in April. The appointment followed a public interview process in which each candidate answered a standardized set of questions prepared by the council.

Council Member Peterson nominated James Cox and Council Member D. Young seconded the nomination. A voice vote confirmed the appointment. Cox took the oath of office at the meeting and said he looked forward to working with the council and community. "I just want to thank everyone that's come here. It's important that we continue what we're doing and grow this city in a good way," Cox said after being sworn in.

Council members thanked all applicants for stepping forward and noted that the council had agreed to conduct any deliberations about candidates in public rather than in executive session. The new appointee will serve until the November 2027 election certification date; Cox said he plans to be an active representative for Ward 2 and to decide later whether to run for election to continue in the seat.
