The Perryton ISD Board approved multiple consent and personnel items, including hiring two recommended employees, authorizing the superintendent temporary authority to issue professional-staff contracts over the summer and approving a purchase of whiteboards for Williams Intermediate.
Mr. Brown recommended two hires for the 2026–27 school year: Jordan Beard as an art facilitator for the SSA and Kinley Shalenberger for a teaching position at Wright Elementary. The board approved one‑year certified probationary contracts for both.
To speed hiring during a tight labor market, trustees also authorized the superintendent to issue professional-staff contracts from May 19 through Aug. 31, 2026, allowing the district to secure candidates between scheduled meetings. Mr. Brown said he will continue to share resumes and notify trustees of hires issued under that authority.
On facilities, the board approved replacing chalkboards at Williams Intermediate with whiteboards. District staff estimated roughly $35,000 to replace main boards and about $23,000 for secondary boards; the Ranger Academic Education Fund indicated it would provide a grant to cover the secondary board cost. Staff said installation should be completed in June.
The board also approved two student transfer applications from Spearman as recommended by staff.
