A proposal to proceed with the local supplier (option one) was amended on the council floor to require three quotes be obtained for the building works associated with installation and fitting. Councillors emphasised the need to record a rationale for choosing a local supplier (value-for-money, proximity for maintenance and rapid response), and noted that any decision to select a single supplier for equipment would need documented justification consistent with procurement regulations. The amended motion was carried following a recorded vote.
Next steps: officers will prepare the rationale and three quotes for the building works; councillors will review the details and, if satisfied, the council will proceed to contract award and scheduling to try to meet summer availability.
