The Centerville City Board of Education took a series of formal actions during its May 26 meeting, approving financial reports, personnel items and several procurement awards.
Financials and minutes: The board approved the April 2026 financial statements and related purchase orders (totaling $53,745.10) and approved minutes from April 27, May 8 and May 18.
Personnel and pay schedules: The superintendent’s recommendations to accept listed resignations and to approve multiple certificated and support‑staff employment actions (Schedules A–E and related supplements) were approved. The board approved revisions to classified and administration pay packets for 2026–27, pay schedules for school-attendance and family-resource roles, and other compensation-related updates. One vote on a certificated schedule recorded an abstention from Mrs. Durbaugh.
Procurement and projects: The board awarded a paving contract for $366,500 plus a 10% contingency using PI funds; approved a Weller playground project through a purchasing co‑op to The Mods Group for $211,700 (PI funds); and approved a Stingley fire-alarm panel installation with Silco Fire and Security through a co‑op for $78,100 (PI funds). Board members discussed vendor discounts and procurement methods during the approvals.
Other items: The board approved a resolution authorizing a hold‑harmless agreement for the Americana Festival fireworks adjacent to the high school, approved the 2027–28 school calendar, and approved a resolution directing the treasurer to post public notice for a retire‑hire (Scott Long, math teacher) that may be used to retain experienced staff.
All items were approved by roll call with the tallies and individual member votes recorded in the meeting minutes; one abstention was recorded for a personnel schedule vote as noted above.
