Centerville City Schools names three new principals for 2026–27

The Centerville City Board of Education on May 26 introduced three principals it selected for the 2026–27 school year and said transition plans will be implemented in the coming weeks.

Mr. Tarpy presented Brian Roar as the new principal at Weller Elementary, saying Roar brings “20 plus years of experience” and has served as principal at Miami East Elementary since 2014. Roar told the board he and his family live in the community and that he is “very excited to get started.”

The board also introduced Kelly Judy as the South Unit principal at Centerville High School. Tarpy noted Judy has worked in Centerville since 2005, has served on the district’s evaluation and curriculum teams and has been the South Unit principal designate. Judy said she is grateful for the opportunity and pledged to “raise the floor and support” students and staff.

Jen Keys was announced as the new principal at Stingley Elementary. Tarpy summarized Keys’s background in special education, instructional technology and principal roles, including recent service as principal of Lang School in Oakwood City Schools. Keys said she was “thrilled to become part of that community” and is eager to return to Centerville.

District officials said all three hires were the result of a competitive selection process that included stakeholder input, and that transition plans for each principal are underway. No formal votes on the hires were recorded during the public portion of the meeting; the introductions were part of the honors and building reports section.

The board said it will continue transition work with staff at each building over the summer.
