Trustees reviewed the results of a board evaluation and discussed changing the evaluation cadence from every three years to once a year so that trustees can more regularly track progress on strategic goals.
Members said the annual review would encourage focused, monthly updates on action-plan items and make it easier to demonstrate activity toward goals. One trustee noted difficulty in measuring some goals quantitatively and suggested monthly action-plan paragraphs in department reports to provide evidence of progress.
Trustees also reviewed a proposed update to the director’s contract that removed an earlier paragraph about prorated raises and updated dates. Board members traced the origin of an earlier baseline salary figure (referred to in discussion as the "148" reference) and explained that subsequent COLA-style adjustments produced the current effective figure cited in the discussion (approximately $155,605). Trustees did not finalize or sign the contract at this meeting; they asked staff to produce a cleaned final document and scheduled a vote on the contract for the next meeting to allow time to review job-description language and related materials.
Members also proposed a one-time review of the director job description (written in 2017) to ensure it reflects current responsibilities, particularly around technology and HR tasks. The board agreed to put job-description review and final contract approval on the next meeting agenda.
No binding changes to compensation were made at the meeting.
