John Mooney, the auditor, said the audit team found the township's financial records to be unusually clean and well-reconciled, with "nothing that rose to the level of a formal recommendation." He singled out strong coordination between the collector and CFO offices and noted major reserves (storm recovery, accumulated absence, pending tax appeal) each exceed $150,000.
Mooney told council the current-fund cash position is "very strong" and the town has not had to use school-payable deferrals in recent years. He also recommended increasing annual sewer capital contributions to prepare for aging infrastructure. The council then approved a resolution accepting the audit with a roll-call vote.
The audit acceptance completes the formal review of 2023 financial statements; the council said staff will post the audit and related documents as required by state law.
