Planning commission schedules POCD work session and confirms Civic Triangle Park opening date

Commissioners set a work session for Sept. 10 to complete the Plan of Conservation and Development comments, scheduled an Aug. 27 public hearing for a related regulations amendment, and staff confirmed a Civic Triangle Park inauguration ceremony on Aug. 9 with construction substantially complete.
At the July 23 meeting the Planning & Zoning Commission agreed to schedule time in September to complete comments on the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) and to hold a public hearing on Aug. 27 for a related regulation amendment.
Staff proposed a POCD work session on Sept. 10 to compile staff, legal and commission comments and move the plan toward completion. Commissioners said September dates work best and asked staff to circulate consolidated comments in advance.
Staff also reported substantial completion of Civic Triangle Park construction and confirmed an inauguration/opening ceremony planned for Aug. 9. Remaining work includes grass establishment, installation of accessible parking spaces and final street-scape work; staff said the park will be open to the public after the Aug. 9 ceremony though landscaping will continue.
The commission discussed a previously published notice for a proposed four-year moratorium on certificates of affordable housing completion and said staff would accept comments during the published period before filing the moratorium application with the state.
