Votes at a glance: Colts Neck Board approves minutes, action items, curriculum and finance items

The Colts Neck Township Board of Education approved a series of routine and consent items during its July 10 meeting, voting by roll call to approve minutes, superintendent action items, buildings and grounds items, curriculum items and a finance item.

The board approved the April 10 and April 24 regular meeting minutes; one member abstained from approving the executive-session minutes, saying she had not been present for that session. The board then approved superintendent action items 1–4, items one and two under Buildings and Grounds (routine maintenance and safety/security planning), curriculum items (including authorization for a district representative to attend and present at a National School Safety and Security conference in New York City), and one finance item.

Votes on the consent and action items were recorded by roll call and the motions carried. No member of the public spoke during the public-comment period.

Separately, committee chairs reported brief updates: Buildings and Grounds announced a planned facilities tour in early August and mentioned an infrastructure/energy-savings project; the curriculum committee plans to meet in late July or early August; policy and advocacy items are being scheduled. The superintendent reported on summer academic programming, noting ESY/bridge programs and that summer assignments are posted on the district website.

The board closed new business after a member proposed reinstating the district mission statement reading at the start of meetings; there was no opposition and the board intends to adopt that practice going forward. The meeting then adjourned.
