Falls Church council swears in 48 youth reps, proclaims Vietnamese Heritage Day and Pride Month

The Falls Church City Council opened the May 26 meeting with a series of ceremonial recognitions. Nancy Brandon, chair of the CBC Youth Representative Initiative, described the program’s growth from 15 to 48 youth representatives over 12 years and administered the oath of office to the new youth reps.
Mayor Letty Hardy and council members posed with youth representatives for photographs and reminded appointees they will receive information from staff liaisons about board and commission service. CBC leadership thanked the council and urged the youth to participate actively in civic life.
The council then presented two proclamations. Mayor Hardy read a proclamation declaring June 6, 2026, Vietnamese Heritage Day in Falls Church; Don Nuin of the Vietnamese Literary and Artistic Club spoke on behalf of the local Vietnamese American community, expressing gratitude for the recognition and noting cultural ties to the Eden Center.
Later the council proclaimed June 2026 Pride Month in the city, noted the history of pride commemorations and invited residents to a flag-raising on June 3 and the June Joy pop-up Pride event in Cherry Hill Park.
