The City Commission authorized the mayor to sign an agreement with TreeWorks LLC to provide a part-time certified arborist under a Georgia Forestry Commission urban and community forestry program.
City staff said TreeWorks was the successful RFP respondent and proposed 10 hours per week year-round, with billing at an hourly rate that rises modestly over the three-year term; the grant reimburses up to $40,000 per year for up to three years (a $120,000 maximum through Dec. 31, 2027). The arborist will inventory city trees, conduct inspections and support management and preservation of the city’s substantial urban canopy. City crews will continue to perform most removals, with TreeWorks providing certified expertise and the city the option to request additional hours at city expense.
Commissioners supported the selection and authorized contracting subject to minor revisions by the city attorney.
