The North Bend City Council voted May 26 to award a paving contract for Me Avenue to Knife River Materials in an amount not to exceed $75,000. Public works staff presented the bids and an evaluation that included a tonnage estimate; staff recommended Knife River based on anticipated project quantities and resulting cost.
"My job in evaluating these is get the proposal that best fits the city's needs and in my opinion Knife River," the presenting staff member said. A motion to award the contract was made and seconded; the council then voted "I" and the motion carried.
Councelor Jones moved the award and Councelor Garboden seconded. The council did not record a roll-call breakdown in the transcript; staff and the mayor confirmed that the motion carried.
Next steps: staff will finalize contract documents and proceed with the paving work tied to sanitary sewer repairs under the authorized amount.
