Two firefighters sworn in at Bedford Board meeting

Presiding at the ceremony, the board asked each recruit to raise a hand and repeat the oath to "support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Indiana" and to "faithfully, honestly and impartially discharge" their duties as members of the Bedford City Fire Department. Both recruits completed the oath and were congratulated.
The presiding officer thanked family, friends and community members for attending and called the swearing-in "a special event for our two new firefighters" who "we hope will be here for many, many years to serve our community and take care of all of our citizens." Attendees were invited to remain for the rest of the meeting.
No formal policy action was tied to the swearing-in beyond the oath and welcoming remarks; other personnel and operational items were handled later in the meeting.
