Peter, a city staff member, described the project as a short addition that will provide a sidewalk along a cul-de-sac south of Willow Road to improve a regular walking route to Hershey High School. He said the work originated from a design produced by Hershey engineering students as part of a curriculum project and that the city expects construction to be brief, with a goal of completing the sidewalk before the end of November.
Council moved and seconded the award subject to attorney review and approval; a roll-call vote carried the motion. Staff confirmed the project will be bid and constructed in the current year and that the contingency is intended to manage unexpected subsurface conditions encountered during excavation.
