Mayor White outlines road, park and public-safety priorities for 2025 at reorganization meeting

He cited a $1 million state grant for pond restoration at Saddle River County Park and said the township secured approximately $1 million in federal funds to upgrade the municipal complex generator so the whole building will run during outages. The mayor said the township has identified about $800,000 in grant funds toward a proposed spray-park project but cautioned that grant monies alone may not fully fund construction and that capital funds will be required.
Public-safety and operations topics included plans to return the police department to full staffing, pursue accreditation, and explore a townwide camera system. The mayor also discussed encouraging volunteer recruitment for the fire department and ambulance corps and improving school-district collaboration on safety and facilities.
On redevelopment, the mayor said the township plans to market the former town-hall/police-station parcel for mixed commercial/ residential reuse and has completed a redevelopment study to solicit developer interest. On senior services, he said the township intends to move the senior center to the municipal complex and consider redeveloping the current senior-center site for affordable senior housing to meet COAH obligations.
Mayor White’s comments concluded with a request for resident involvement in committees (flood mitigation, community partnerships, green-team efforts) and a call to continue leveraging grants and county support for infrastructure and recreation projects.
